The PBS family is mourning the passing of one of its own, Sylvia Bugg. Sylvia most recently served as chief programming executive and general manager for general audience programming. She was a dedicated and passionate leader, and a staunch supporter of our team at the News Hour. She died unexpectedly this weekend at just 55 years old.

Sylvia Bugg has died.
Sylvia most recently served as chief programming executive and general manager for general audience programming after holding a number of high-level posts both here and at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, among others.
In a statement, PBS CEO Paula Kerger said that Sylvia helped shape the programming -- quote -- "that defines our service to the American people," adding -- quote -- "She will be gratefully remembered for her commitment to ensuring public media's programming reflects a broad range of voices and perspectives."
Sylvia was a dedicated and passionate leader and a staunch supporter of our team here at the "News Hour."
She died unexpectedly this weekend at just 55 years old.
